A tragic incident unfolded in the Abijo area of Epe Local Government Area, Lagos State, as 17-year-old Ojibe Chukwueze was found dead after being accused of stealing N100,000 from his employer on Monday.
According to a reliable source, Chukwueze’s body was discovered by his sister near a roadside after he failed to return home following allegations leveled against him by his boss.
The source revealed that Chukwueze’s sister received a call from a neighbor informing her about her brother’s lifeless body at a nearby bus stop. Prior to this, the teenager had left home after allegedly taking some money.
Further inquiries revealed that Chukwueze’s employer had accused him of stealing N100,000 from his shop, prompting the tragic turn of events.
Upon receiving the report, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances leading to the teenager’s death.
Detectives who visited the scene discovered foam emanating from Chukwueze’s mouth and nostrils, with a can of sniper pesticide recovered as evidence. His body has been deposited at Epe General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.
This tragic incident comes in the wake of another suicide case involving a 30-year-old graduate of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Nerus Elemamba, whose lifeless body was found in his room in Umuohii, Oboama community, Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State. Elemamba’s suicide occurred after participating in the day’s village manual labor activities.
