BREAKING: FG declares Thursday additional Eid-el-Fitr holiday

In a recent announcement, the Federal Government has declared Thursday, April 11, 2024, as an additional public holiday to honor Eid-el-Fitr. The statement, released by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, highlighted the government’s commitment to celebrating this significant occasion. Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended congratulations to the Muslim community for their dedication throughout the month of spiritual observance. The decision comes after Saudi Arabia confirmed that the crescent of Shawwal had not been sighted, indicating the continuation of fasting on Tuesday, with Eid-el-Fitr festivities commencing on Wednesday, April 10. Earlier, the Federal Government had designated Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9 and 10, 2024, as public holidays for the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
