Rotary Club Provides Free Nationwide Health Care Services for the Citizenry.

The Rotary Club International in conjunction with Rotary Club of Lokoja, commenced its free medical Health Care outreach in Lokoja the Kogi state capital.

The 3-day medical outreach, which commenced on Monday is expected to last till Wednesday, 18th April 2024.

According to a release signed by the state coordinator, Rotarian Grace Kato the programme will take place at the Primary Health Care Centres in SUBEB and Sariki Noma communities, in Lokoja respectively.

“The Rotary Action Group for Family Health Care and Aids prevention, tagged Rotary Family Health Days (RFHDs), is a signature program of Rotary International, that seeks to bridges the gap in access to critical medical services.”

According to the State Coordinator, Rotarian Grace Ben Kato, millions of people around the world still struggle to access basic healthcare, and are forced to choose between healthcare and other expenses like food or shelter.

“The Rotary Action Group for Family Health & AIDS Prevention (RFHA) is working to bridge this gap through its signature program, Rotary Family Health Days (RFHD).

She said Rotary International with its District in 9110, 9125, 9141 and 9142 Nigeria, with Bill & Milinda Gates Foundation in collaboration with State Ministries of Health, private sectors and NGOs, has ensured that it delivers free preventive community healthcare services.

Such services according to her includes, polio immunization, Malaria screening and treatment, HIV testing and counseling, blood sugar screening, Herpatitis B screening, BP and Prostrate screening for men.

“Other services includes; distribution of insecticides treated nets, sanitary pads, family planning counseling and sensitization on HlV, administration of Vitamins, deworming, eye and dental care respectively.”
