FT Lists Nigeria’s BHM Among Africa’s Fastest-Growing Companies

For the second consecutive year, BlackHouse Media (BHM), an independent communications consultancy in Nigeria, has been recognized by the Financial Times as one of Africa’s fastest-growing companies.

The Financial Times’ ranking of Africa’s Fastest Growing Companies 2024, compiled in collaboration with global data and business intelligence platform Statista, ranks independent African companies by their organic, internally stimulated compound annual growth rate in revenue.

BHM debuted on the list in 2023 and is featured this year at number 89, showcasing its stability and consistency as a leading growth champion in Africa.

Ayeni Adekunle, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of BHM, commented on this recognition, saying, “The incredible support from our clients and partners across the world has been instrumental in our growth. This recognition is further validation of our strategic vision and our ambition to build the first truly global communications services company with African roots.”

The firm’s Executive Director, Femi Falodun, echoed this sentiment, stating, “This is a testament to the hard work of our people and the incredible support we’ve enjoyed from partners and clients.”

Founded in Lagos in 2006 by Ayeni, a former journalist, BHM has grown to become a leading communications and public relations consultancy in Africa. The company employs around 100 professionals across Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, and other parts of Africa, as well as in England, Scotland, and the United States. Its clients include Heineken, MTN, MultiChoice, and The Macallan.

David Pilling, the Africa Editor of the Financial Times, noted, “The FT ranking highlights the growing strength and innovation of African businesses. BHM has distinguished itself, displaying fast growth, made even more impressive having achieved it during the years of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Beyond its core business of marketing communications, public relations, and reputation management, BHM actively invests in the African PR landscape. The company advocates for World PR Day, an initiative celebrated annually on July 16th in over 60 countries.

BHM also engages in research and thought leadership projects, including a report on the cost-of-living crisis impacting the African diaspora in the UK, as well as the Africa PR and Communications Industry report.

“Our mission is to serve clients across the African continent and globally,” said Ayeni. “Every recognition we receive along the way strengthens our resolve to succeed. We have an unwavering belief in the continent, its people, and the value we can bring to the world.”
