Sokoto State Ministry For Women and Children Empowers 40 Women With N3b

The Sokoto State Ministry For Women and Children affairs says it hss Empowered 40 Women With about N3b. The state Commissioner of the Ministry Hajiya Hadiza Ahmad Shagari made the disclosure during the Ministerial Press briefing of governor Ahmad Aliyu’s one year in office.

The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Alhaji Hayatu Alhaji said the Ministry empowered 40 women in agriculture with N500,000 each in addition to solar pumping machines for dry season farming.

Another recorded achievement enumerated is the empowerment of 200 adolescent girls on skill acquisition and second chance education in collaboration with NEEM Foundation and similarly the re-admission of 1500 out of school children with provision of complete uniforms, Sneakers, school bags, books and writing materials which was in collaboration with UNICEF.

Furthermore, the Ministry trained 23 Local Government Areas Women Coordinators on GBV issues.

As a core mandate of the Ministry, food items and clothing were distributed during the Holy month of Ramadan to vulnerable women and children including those in correctional centres.

“As part of the governor’s 9 points agenda,those are some of the achievements recorded in infrastructures, socioeconomic and human development programs”, Hadiza Ahmad Shagari said.
