Gov Alia Assents To Ten Bills Passed By Benue Assembly

Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, has signed into law 10 bills passed by the Benue State House of Assembly.

The Governor who performed the ceremony at the old banquet hall, Government House Makurdi, explained that the laws were meant to protect the general safety of Benue people and to ensure that their rights as citizens aren’t abuse by other people.

These include; ” a law to make Provisions for Benue State Drug and Health Commodities Management Agency and other matters connected therewith 2024, a law to prohibit harassment, extortion of money from land developers (marching ground), violent and fraudulent conducts in relation to landed properties and for purposes connected therewith 2024.

“A law to provide for the establishment of Benue State Civil Protection Guards and for purposes connected therewith 2024. ( Here, the Livestock Guards and the Community Volunteer Guards will be merged), a law to establish the Benue State Legislative Budget and Research Office and for purposes connected therewith 2024,” among other laws.

He Implored people of the state to forget about partisan when it comes to law and order, averring that what he signed into law had nothing to do with the APC, PDP, LP or any other political party.

Gov Alia, who reiterated his administration’s intention to guarantee peace in the state, warned against intra and inter crises for development to thrive. He admonished traditional rulers to ensure permanent peace in their various domains.

The Governor pointed out that he signed into law what would make Benue people understand that Benue is their home and they will protect their home, stressing that the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law has not been tempered with.

Earlier while presenting the bills for assent , Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, Mr Hyacinth Dajoh, maintained that the bills passed by the 10th assembly were an attestation that they are committed to making laws that would impact positively the lives of the people.
