In response to a court order mandating it to halt planned price hikes, MultiChoice has readjusted its subscription rates for DStv and GOtv services in Nigeria.
Initially, MultiChoice had announced its intention to challenge the ruling by the Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal in Abuja. The company had reported a significant decline in its Nigerian subscriber base, resulting in the loss of over a million subscribers.
As of Sunday, June 16, 2024, the company has reflected these readjusted prices on its apps.
Under the new pricing structure, DStv Premium package subscribers will now pay N29,500, down from the intended N37,000. Compact+ package subscribers will pay N19,800 instead of the planned N25,000. Compact Bouquet subscribers will be charged N12,500, reverting from the proposed N15,700, while Confam package subscribers will pay N7,400, back from the intended N9,300 per month.
Yanga package subscribers will now pay N4,200 instead of the planned N5,100, and Padi subscribers will be charged N2,950 instead of the new rate of N3,600.
Similarly, GOtv subscribers will also benefit from the readjustment. GOtv Super+ package subscribers will pay N12,500 instead of the intended N15,700. GOtv Super users will be charged N7,600, down from the planned N9,600. GOtv Max subscribers will pay N5,700, GOtv Joli subscribers N3,950, and GOtv Jinja subscribers N2,700.
These adjustments come as MultiChoice aims to comply with the tribunal’s ruling and address the concerns of its subscriber base in Nigeria.
