Flood Disaster: Ganduje lauds FG’s effort on relief materials

Kano State government has described as commendable the effort of the Federal Government in assisting the victims of flood disaster in the State with relief materials to ease their hardship.

The State Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje made the declaration during the distribution of relief materials to the flood victims of Takai and Sumaila Federal Constituency provided by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), held in Takai Local Government Area of the state.

The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna acknowledged that the gesture was a clear testimony of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in safeguarding the life of the common man.

” It is pertinent to applaud the effort of the Federal government for providing the succour to the victims as this has demonstrated its commitment and concerns to save the victims of the flood disaster from the deplorable condition, ” he said.

Governor Ganduje disclosed that his administration had also made a similar effort by presenting relief materials and money worth N17.9 million to the victims of flood disaster across the State.

” This administration has provided relief materials and money worth over N17.9 million to the victims of some affected Local Government Areas of the State including Gwarzo, Kabo and Rimin Gado Local Government areas, ” Ganduje announced.

He added that assessments had reached advanced stage by the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to provide the relief materials to the remaining victims of the flood disaster.

He, therefore, commended the effort of the representatives of Takai and Sumaila Constituency for the outstanding role they played in ensuring that the victims are provided with relief materials.
In their separate remarks, the member representing Takai / Sumaila Federal constituency Shamsuddin Abdulrahman Dambazau and Member representing Takai in the state House of Assembly, Alhaji Musa Aliyu Kachako thanked the Federal Government for the kind gesture.

Handing over the relief materials to the Governor, the representative of National Emergency Management Agency Malam Hafiz Sarki said the materials were provided by the Federal Government following complaint tabled by the member representing Takai /Sumaila Federal constituency at the National Assembly seeking Government’s interventions to his people who had been affected by the disaster.

He maintained that the items to be distributed include foodstuff and building materials among others, adding that the Agency would continue to work with State Government in ensuring that affected victims in the State get the necessary assistance.

Earlier, the chairman of Takai Local Government Council Barrister Haruna Falali assured the Governor for judicious distribution of the relief materials to the affected victims.
