Victony Shares His Struggles with Understanding Love

By Milcah Tanimu

Nigerian singer Victony has opened up about his ongoing journey to understand what it means to be in love. Speaking on the latest episode of the *Is This Seat Taken* podcast, hosted by Chinasa Anukam, the 23-year-old artist discussed his music, childhood memories, and his evolving perception of love.

When asked if he has ever been in love and what love means to him, Victony admitted that he is still grappling with the concept. “I’m a young man; I’m figuring it out. I’m still trying to know what it means; I’ll put it that way. What does love mean? What does it mean to be in love? I’m still asking myself those questions. So when I’m with a girl, I ask myself, ‘Am I in love or not?'”

The conversation turned playful when Chinasa asked, “When was the last time you kissed someone?” Victony laughed and replied, “You’re intruding into my privacy. I have not kissed anyone this year, so maybe last year in December.”

Discussing his music, particularly his love songs, Chinasa questioned how often he lies in his lyrics. Victony responded, “With the love songs? Not too often; I don’t even lie because every time I make a love song, that’s how I feel in that moment toward someone. I may feel different the next day because I don’t know if it’s love or not.”
