NAPTIP Rescues Benue Girls Trafficked to Ivory Coast

The Zonal Commander of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Makurdi Zonal Office, Mrs. Gloria Bai, has disclosed that the Benue girls trafficked to Ivory Coast have been brought back home and are currently being rehabilitated.

Mrs. Bai, who made this known while briefing journalists at the Government House in Makurdi, explained that the woman who took the girls to Ivory Coast under the pretense of securing jobs for them has been apprehended by security operatives.

Her words: “The lady who took them to Ivory Coast under the guise of getting a job for them has been arrested and will soon be charged to court.” She admonished parents, guardians, and job seekers to always be vigilant to safeguard against issues of trafficking.

The Zonal Commander lauded the Benue State Government for ensuring the girls’ safe return to the state.
