Delta Speaker directs Commissioner nominees to appear for screening

Speaker Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has directed the six nominees for appointment as Commissioners and Members of the State Executive Council to submit 35 copies of their Curriculum Vitae before the end of work today Wednesday and appear for screening at Thursday.

Rt. Hon.Guwor had at the resumed plenary of the House, announced the names of the nominees as forwarded to his office by the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

Those nominated as Commissioners and Members of the Delta State Executive Council include, Barrister Val Areyenka, Hon Peter Uviejitobor, Barrister Trakiriowei Harry ThankGod, Chief Ebikeme Clark, Mr Sunday Tatàbuzogwu and Mr Okocha Nduka Benjamin.

Oborevwori in the letter as read by the Speaker, said the appointments was in line with constitutional provisions and the need to strengthen good governance in the state.

The Governor quoted section 192, sub section 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999 as amended), from where he derives the power to make such appointments.

Oborevwori pleaded with the Lawmakers for early legislative actions on the nominees to enable him effect the appointments in line with the Constitution

Similarly, Speaker, Delta State Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor, at plenary commended the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, for successfully organising a free, fair and credible Local government elections on Saturday, 13 July, 2024.

Guwor, together with the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi, congratulated the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) and the newly sworn-in Local Government Chairmen of the 25 Council areas in the State for the victory.

They urged the Chairmen to put in efforts in ensuring that people at the grassroots get the dividends of democracy as well as promote the MORE agenda of the state government.

They also paid glowing tributes to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for driving the process that led to the glorious successes recorded last Saturday in the conduct of the local government councils election in the state.
