SDP Criticizes Kogi Governor Ododo Over Massive Appointment of Aides

By   Milcah   Tanimu

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State has expressed strong disapproval of Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo’s decision to appoint an additional 1,192 aides.

The announcement, made on Monday by Dr. Folashde Ayoade, the Secretary to the State Government, detailed the extensive list of new appointments. The appointments include Yakubu Nasir Abdulhakeem as the Executive Secretary for the Kogi State Office for Disability, 165 Senior Special Assistants, and 36 Special Assistants. Additionally, the Governor approved the hiring of 574 Ward Special Assistants and 290 Local Government Special Assistants. Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulsadiq was also appointed as the Director of Protocol for the First Lady’s Office among other positions.

David Ijele, Director of Media for the SDP campaign in Kogi State, criticized Governor Ododo’s actions, calling them a “misplaced priority.” He highlighted that the government has not yet settled payments for workers who have contributed to the state, accusing the administration of using the new appointments to potentially mobilize support inappropriately.

Ijele further asserted that Ododo’s tenure is coming to an end, expressing confidence that the Supreme Court will rule in favor of the SDP candidate, Yakubu Ajaka. “The Constitution is clear regarding BVAS, and we are hopeful that the Supreme Court will deliver justice for the people of Kogi State and remove these charlatans from power,” Ijele declared.
