Kaduna State Launches Health Insurance Scheme for Pensioners

*As KADCHMA partners NUP
By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

The Kaduna State Government has launched a new health insurance scheme for pensioners in the state. The scheme, unveiled on Monday at the Ministry of Health Conference Hall, is a collaboration between the Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority (KADCHMA) and the Kaduna chapter of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP).

State Commissioner for Health, Umma Ahmed, stated that the scheme aims to provide comprehensive and affordable healthcare coverage for pensioners, reducing their financial burden from medical expenses. She praised Governor Senator Uba Sani for his commitment to the Contributory Health Scheme and the welfare of pensioners, noting that the partnership aligns with the state’s vision of universal health coverage.

Abubakar Hassan, Director General of KADCHMA, explained that the scheme will allow pensioners to access healthcare services at any public or private health facility in Kaduna without incurring out-of-pocket expenses. He highlighted that the scheme is the result of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between KADCHMA, the Kaduna State Pension Bureau, and the NUP.
