Greenville LNG Inaugurates First LNG/CNG Hub Station in Nasarawa State

In a landmark event, Greenville LNG Co. Ltd. inaugurated its first LNG/CNG hub station in Nasarawa State, marking a significant step toward energy cost reduction in the region. The ceremony, held in Shabu, Lafia on August 20, 2024, was graced by the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, who praised Greenville LNG for completing the project on schedule.

During his address, Governor Sule highlighted the importance of the Nasarawa Gas Masterplan and commended Greenville LNG for its role in advancing the state’s gas utilization strategy. He urged the company to expand its operations beyond the state capital and announced that his administration is sponsoring the training of 50 youths as technicians for converting vehicles to CNG-powered engines. The governor also emphasized Nasarawa’s potential as a major player in Nigeria’s gas sector, envisioning the state’s gas fields as future suppliers to companies like Greenville LNG.

Representing Greenville LNG, Alhaji Zubairu Ibrahim Bayi conveyed the goodwill message of the company’s Chairman, Mr. Eddy Van den Broeke, and expressed gratitude to the Nasarawa State Government for its support. Bayi announced that the Lafia Gas Station would provide 32 tons of CNG and 220 tons of LNG per day, promoting sustainable business practices and positioning Nasarawa as a leader in green energy compliance.

The event was attended by numerous dignitaries, including the Director of Gas at the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Oluremi Komolafe, and members of the Nasarawa State Executive Council. The Greenville LNG team, led by Alhaji Zubairu Ibrahim Bayi, included several senior executives who emphasized the project’s potential for job creation and energy diversification in the state.

Greenville LNG, a leading producer and distributor of LNG and CNG in Nigeria, operates a virtual pipeline of over 700 specialized gas delivery trucks and is expanding its network of gas hubs across the country. The Lafia station joins existing hubs in Rumuji, Benin, Shagamu, Koton-Karfe, and Kaduna, as part of Greenville’s broader mission to deliver cleaner and more affordable energy solutions nationwide.

In a historic achievement, Greenville LNG recently fueled Nigerian Railway Corporation locomotives with LNG for the first time, and also pioneered the fueling of Ekeson Transport’s buses with LNG in Lagos, demonstrating its commitment to advancing energy transition in Nigeria.
