Kano Shifts School Resumption to September 17

The Kano State Government has postponed the resumption of public and private primary and post-primary schools to Tuesday, September 17, 2024. Boarding school students will return a day earlier on Monday, September 16.

The change, confirmed by a statement from the State Ministry of Education’s Director of Public Enlightenment, Balarabe Kiru, follows the declaration of September 16 as a public holiday for Eid-el-Maulud.

State Commissioner of Education, Umar Doguwa, noted that the adjustment allows students to celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

“While congratulating the Muslim Ummah, I urge everyone to embrace patience, sacrifice, and patriotism, and to pray for the state and nation,” Doguwa said. He also encouraged parents and guardians to comply with the new dates.

Doguwa wished students, teachers, and parents a peaceful Maulud celebration and a successful academic session.
