At least 30 armed robbers stormed a guesthouse and residence in Minna, Niger State, in the early hours of Thursday, stealing over 50 phones, N100,000, and a motorcycle. The attack occurred at 2 a.m. on Eastern Bye-Pass Road in Tunga, with the robbers first targeting Ben Ja’am Guest House.
The robbers, armed with machetes, attacked occupants and searched every room. Guests and staff were forced to hand over their phones and valuables without resistance. A Civil Defence operative staying at the guesthouse was injured after refusing to surrender his phone, which contained critical contacts.
“They were more than 30, dressed like vigilantes, and ordered everyone to lie flat while they searched the rooms,” a witness reported.
The robbers also raided a nearby residence, taking over 10 phones, N100,000, and a brand-new motorcycle known as ‘rubber rubber.’
Niger State Police spokesman Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the robbery but noted the report reached them too late for immediate action. He assured the public that the incident is under investigation.
