The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., has extended heartfelt congratulations to First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, OON, as she celebrates her 64th birthday on Saturday.

In a message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, Speaker Abbas described the First Lady as a reliable partner to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and referred to her as a “true mother of the nation.”

Highlighting Senator Tinubu’s significant contributions to politics and governance, the Speaker commended her initiatives since her husband’s inauguration last year.

“On this special occasion, I join millions of citizens in celebrating Senator Oluremi Tinubu and the first family,” Speaker Abbas said. “I commend her for the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), which aims to support Nigerian women, youths, and children, significantly contributing to the implementation of the Tinubu administration’s agenda.”

He also praised her establishment of the Young Farmers Club of Nigeria under the RHI, which encourages the diversification of the economy from petroleum to agriculture.

“Senator Oluremi Tinubu has been an exemplary wife to our president, an accomplished lawmaker, and a formidable force within the ruling All Progressives Congress. She serves as a role model for women aspiring to lead in politics and governance,” he added.

Speaker Abbas reflected on Senator Tinubu’s tenure as First Lady during President Tinubu’s governorship of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007, during which she founded the New Era Foundation (NEF) to promote the all-round development of youth and raise awareness about environmental health and community service.

He also noted that she made history as the first senator from Lagos State to be elected three consecutive times, representing the Lagos Central Senatorial District.

In closing, Speaker Abbas wished the First Lady many more fruitful years and good health.
