Osun Reduces Workdays for Public Servants, Extends Palliatives

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has approved a reduction in the number of workdays for public servants to help ease their transportation expenses. In addition, he announced an extension of palliative payments to public servants for the next two months.

This was disclosed in a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Tuesday in Osogbo. The decision, outlined in a circular from the Office of the Head of Service, reflects Governor Adeleke’s commitment to addressing the economic challenges faced by workers in the state.

According to the statement, the new work schedule will see public servants in grades GL.01 to GL.10 working three days per week, while those in grades GL.12 to GL.17 will work four days per week. However, the directive excludes workers on essential duties, such as medical personnel, security officers, political office holders, and accounting officers.

The circular also emphasized that accounting officers in various ministries, departments, and agencies will organize the specific workdays for their staff.

Additionally, the governor approved the continuation of palliative payments to public servants for the next two months, while awaiting the implementation of the new minimum wage. All relevant government offices, including local governments, have been directed to comply with the new arrangements.
