The notorious terrorist gang formerly commanded by Kachalla Buzu has appointed a new operational leader, Kachalla Sanda, known as Dan Kwallisa. This announcement was made by Bakatsine, a prominent security expert and conflict journalist in the Northwest region, in a recent post on X.
Dan Kwallisa previously served as the Second-in-Command under the late Buzu. Bakatsine also revealed that the group’s operational base is located in Faru, near Gurbin Baure, within the Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State. In his post, he tagged several officials, including the Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, the Defence Headquarters, the Nigeria Army Headquarters, and the Nigeria Police Force, as well as the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, highlighting the urgent need for action against the group.
This leadership change comes in the wake of Buzu’s death on September 12, when he was killed alongside several of his fighters. Buzu was neutralized by troops from the Joint Task Force Northwest OPHD during an ambush in Mayanchi village, following intelligence reports regarding the terrorists’ movements.
The appointment of Dan Kwallisa raises concerns about the continuity of the gang’s activities and the potential for increased violence in the region, prompting calls for a coordinated response from security agencies to combat terrorism in Northwest Nigeria.
