The FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike has threatened to kick out non-performing contractors handling projects poorly in FCT .

Wike issued this threat on Friday after inspecting the Outer Southern Expressway in the Abuja.

The FCT Minister who expressed his disappointment at the poor attitude of the contractor , CGC was handling the road project.

He said, “What I will be telling non-performing contractors , we do not have any relationship with non-performing contractors. Because everyone knows our position.”

“If you don’t perform we will kick you out, that’s the policy, there’s no sentiment about that. Whether you are an indigenous contractor or a foreign contractor, we don’t care. All that we are concerned about is the work.”

“If you do the work we go along with you, if you don’t, we will kick you out, and we will make you pay for it. There is a sanction.”

“You cannot just collect our money, and you think we will allow you to go no”, the minister emphasized.

However, the minister said that he has summoned the FCDA Director, Engineer Yunana Richard to meet with the CGC contractors to work out a work plan to enable the completion of the road project.

“The CGC has told us that it will complete this work by May. Let them go there and commit themselves and tell us when they will handover the project,
that’s the only way I am going to accept it because this road is very important to us”, Wike said.

He, however, disclosed that the Administration has paid 80% of the project, and when the road is completed, it will help to reduce traffic congestion and positively enhance economic activities.

He also noted that it is better to go around on projects inspection instead of sitting in the office to read reports from the.media.
