Hajiya Maryam Ibrahim: A Champion for Women and the Less Privileged

From Leo Zwànke, Lafia

Hajiya Maryam Ibrahim, a retired civil servant and seasoned politician, is making significant strides in Nasarawa State. Known for her unwavering dedication to service and generosity, she has emerged as a key figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

As the Chairperson of the Coalition of Unions Against Corruption in Nigeria and the Auditor General of the North Central APC Women Group, Hajiya Maryam has demonstrated exceptional competence in governance and earned a reputation as a compassionate leader.

After retiring as an accountant from the Nasarawa State Civil Service following 35 years of active service, Hajiya Maryam seamlessly transitioned into the political arena. Her public service career has been marked by a steadfast commitment to improving the lives of the less privileged in her community.

Her charitable efforts have garnered admiration from many in Nasarawa and beyond. “She has always been there for her people, providing assistance where it matters most,” said a local community leader.

The APC has found an invaluable ally in Hajiya Maryam. Her role as the Auditor General for the North Central APC Women Group highlights her influence and trustworthiness within the party. Dr. Aliyu Bello, the Nasarawa state APC Party Chairman, recently praised her for her unwavering loyalty and contributions to the party’s objectives. “Hajiya Maryam is a pillar of strength in our party. Her financial expertise, combined with her passion for women’s empowerment, makes her an asset to both the APC and the larger community,” remarked Dr. Bello.

Beyond politics, Hajiya Maryam’s efforts to assist the less privileged have endeared her to many in her locality. She has spearheaded various initiatives aimed at providing food, clothing, and healthcare to those in need, particularly women and children.

Her philanthropic activities have not gone unnoticed by stakeholders in the state. “Her kindness knows no bounds. She doesn’t just talk about helping the underprivileged; she takes action. This is why she is loved and respected,” stated a leader of a local women’s group.

Hajiya Maryam’s journey from civil servant to politician exemplifies dedication and resilience. Many view her as a symbol of hope for a better future, not only for women in leadership but also for the downtrodden in society. As the political landscape in Nasarawa continues to evolve, Hajiya Maryam remains a formidable force—determined to leverage her influence for the greater good of her people and her party.

Her story is one of selflessness, leadership, and unyielding determination.
