21-Year-Old Receives Caning for Goat Theft in Kaduna

By   Milcah   Tanimu

A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kaduna has sentenced 21-year-old scavenger Ibrahim Usman to eight strokes of the cane for stealing a she-goat. The theft occurred on October 6 in the Ungwan Rimi area of the city.

During the proceedings, Usman admitted to the theft and pleaded for leniency, claiming that his friends misled him. Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel expressed mercy in his judgment, citing Usman’s quick admission of guilt as a factor in the court’s decision.

While delivering the sentence, the magistrate warned Usman to avoid future criminal activities, indicating that stricter penalties would follow if he reoffends. The prosecution, led by Inspector Chidi Leo, presented the case against Usman, resulting in the court’s ruling.
