Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State has inspected a military fighter jet and other temporary facilities at the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto, as part of preparations for a new military operation code-named *FANSAR YAMMA*, aimed at combating banditry in the North-West zone.
The inspection was conducted alongside the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle. According to a statement by the Governor’s Press Secretary, Abubakar Bawa, the temporary facilities will serve the military until permanent ones are completed.
Governor Aliyu commended President Bola Tinubu for taking proactive measures to address the region’s security challenges. He expressed optimism that the deployment of the military jet signifies that the days of banditry in the North-West, especially in Sokoto State, are numbered.
“I am optimistic that, by the grace of Almighty Allah, the days of bandits are numbered in Sokoto State and the North-West as a whole. We must continue to pray for Mr. President’s success,” Governor Aliyu stated.
Minister Matawalle praised Governor Aliyu for his unwavering support for the military and assured the people that the armed forces are committed to ensuring their safety. He urged the public to offer prayers for the success of *Operation FANSAR YAMMA*, emphasizing that it would be crucial in eradicating banditry in the region.
During the visit, Governor Aliyu was invited aboard the military jet, where he tested some of its advanced equipment.
