Tinubu tasks Wike on developing Arts, Culture, Tourism in Abuja

The FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike following the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will prioritize the tourism sector as he develops the Arts, Culture, and Tourism sector in the FCT.

Wike disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja while declaring open the 11th edition of the prestigious Abuja festival of arts and culture, ASOFEST, 2024, as he promised that the administration will be on top of the game.

The minister who was represented by the Mandate Secretary, Social Development Secretariat, Muntari Abdulkadir-Masari, noted that his administration will continue to support initiatives and programs in n line with Mr. President directives with plans to upstage cultural festivities in the Federal Capital Territory that will enable residents, visitors and those on transit to enjoy the best of cultural displays and entertainment in the FCT.

To achieve this goal, he promised to collaborate more with stakeholders in the tourism, arts and culture sectors, to upscale the business of the sector to enviable heights.

Earlier, the National President of Nigeria Society of Artists, Mohammed called on the stakeholders in the sector to target foreign exports of Nigeria culture.

The Permanent Secretary, FCT Social Development Secretariat, Olubunmi Olowookere, who represented the Mandate Secretary, Muntari Abdulkadir-Masari, called on the participants at the cultural festival to use the opportunity to showcase the rich culture of Nigeria and Africa at large.

Various cultural troops from Kogi, Kaduna, Gombe and FCT added colour to the two days festival.
