Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has highlighted the importance of effective leadership in unlocking Nigeria’s and Africa’s full potential. Speaking in an interview with *Elevate Africa* published on Thursday via YouTube, the globally renowned artist praised Nigerians for their resilience but emphasized that visionary leaders are essential for progress.
“We need the best leaders now. That’s the most important thing,” Davido said, underscoring the role of governance in fostering national development.
Nigerians’ Resilience and Global Influence
Davido reflected on the strength and adaptability of Nigerians, describing them as “survivors” capable of thriving in the toughest conditions.
“I tell people, if you can survive in Lagos—or in Nigeria, rather—you can survive anywhere. We’re strong-willed people,” he remarked.
The artist also highlighted the global presence of Nigerians as evidence of their influence and resilience. “Anywhere in the world, everybody has Nigerian friends. Whether you’re Chinese or whatever, you have Nigerian friends everywhere. I fly to do shows, and there are Nigerian restaurants and communities. It shows that we’re a force,” he said.
The Missing Piece: Visionary Leadership
Despite the global success and tenacity of Nigerians, Davido believes the absence of good leaders is holding the country back.
“I just feel the only thing missing is the right leaders to lead us. Once we get that right, I don’t think there’s anything that will stop us,” he concluded.
Davido’s remarks echo the sentiments of many Nigerians who believe that effective governance is the key to unleashing the nation’s true potential on a global scale.
