Senator Simon Bako Lalong, representing Plateau South Senatorial District and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, has formally welcomed Hon. Dalyop Chollom (Sanchos), the Member Representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency, to the APC.

During the plenary session of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Hon. Chollom announced his defection from the Labour Party to the APC. Senator Lalong described the move as a well-considered decision that reflects the lawmaker’s commitment to greater service to the people.

In his remarks, Senator Lalong highlighted the APC’s openness to individuals eager to serve. He said, “The defection of Hon. Chollom to the APC is another testament to the party’s strength and its deep connection with the grassroots in Plateau State.”

Lalong further noted the party’s strong performance in the recent Plateau State Local Government elections, despite challenges posed by what he described as manipulation by the incumbent government. He urged Hon. Chollom to work closely with APC members in his constituency to ensure the party continues to achieve success and deliver on its promises to the people.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, also congratulated Hon. Chollom on his defection. He expressed confidence that the move would enhance the lawmaker’s ability to deliver the dividends of democracy to his constituents. Abbas commended Senator Lalong for his leadership of the APC in Plateau State, which, he said, continues to attract politicians and supporters from other parties.

The announcement was made public in a statement issued by Dr. Makut Simon Macham, Special Adviser on Media to Senator Simon Bako Lalong.
