Gov Zulum Renews Appointment of Engr. Bababe as Executive Secretary of BOGIS

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has renewed the appointment of Engr. Adam Bukar Bababe as the Executive Secretary of the Borno State Geographic Information Service (BOGIS) for a second and final five-year term.

A statement released by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, highlighted that the reappointment was based on Engr. Bababe’s outstanding performance and transformative leadership during his first term.

This renewal aligns with the provisions of Section 22(2) of the Borno State Geographic Information Service Law, 2019 (HA 2), which allows for a second five-year term upon approval by the Executive Governor.

Governor Zulum expressed his satisfaction with Engr. Bababe’s contributions, stating, “I have approved the renewal of the appointment of the Executive Secretary, Borno State Geographic Information Service (BOGIS), for the second and final term of five years, as recommended.”

The governor also congratulated Engr. Bababe on his reappointment, urging him to build upon the successes of his first term and continue advancing the agency’s goals. “I task him with consolidating the gains made and furthering the achievements of his first tenure,” the governor added.

Established in 2019, the Borno State Geographic Information Service plays a key role in land management and administration within the state. Its mandate includes overseeing land titles, registrations, certification processes, and ensuring best practices in land tenure.

Under Engr. Bababe’s leadership, BOGIS successfully automated land title documents and processed over 2,500 Certificates of Occupancy, all of which have been signed by Governor Zulum.

Engr. Adam Bukar Bababe’s first tenure concluded on Friday, January 17, 2025.
