FUL Declares Lecture-Free Days to Mourn Loss of 5 Students in Kogi

In response to the tragic loss of five promising students in a fatal trailer accident on Monday, Federal University Lokoja has declared lecture-free days to mourn the incident.

A statement issued by Mr. Vincent Ifedayo Ojo, Deputy Registrar for Human Resources, conveyed the university’s deep sorrow over the tragic event, describing it as an accident “too many” that has left the entire university community grieving.

The statement read:
“In honor of the departed souls and as a mark of respect, the University Management has declared lecture-free days effective from 12 noon on Tuesday, February 18, and throughout Wednesday, February 19, 2025. All university activities will proceed on a low-key, and the institution’s flag will fly at half-mast as a symbol of mourning.”

The university extended its heartfelt condolences, saying:
“Our thoughts and prayers are with their families, friends, and the entire university community during this difficult time. May God grant them merciful judgment and rest their souls in eternal peace.”
