The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out precision airstrikes on Boko Haram hideouts in Chikide and Degbewa, Borno State, dealing a significant blow to the terrorist group.
According to NAF, the operation was based on credible intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) reports indicating that insurgents, including notorious terrorist leader Ali Ngulde, were meeting in the area.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, revealed that the strikes specifically targeted a heavily fortified command hub in the Mandara Mountains, which was equipped with solar-powered installations.
“In a bold demonstration of air power and precision night warfare capabilities, the NAF executed a devastating nocturnal airstrike against terrorist hideouts in Chikide and Degbewa on March 16, 2025,” the statement read.
The night operation, executed under the cover of darkness, completely surprised the insurgents and destroyed critical logistics and command structures. The attack triggered large fires and neutralized a significant number of fighters.
“The successful execution of this night operation underscores the NAF’s growing dominance in both day and night air operations, proving that insurgents can no longer find refuge in darkness,” Ali added.
NAF reaffirmed its commitment to sustained precision strikes and relentless air operations to dismantle terrorist networks and restore peace to the region.
