Hajj 2025: FCT Pilgrims Arrive Makkah, Face Challenge Over Delayed Nusuk Cards

By Joyce Remi-Babayeju

Intending pilgrims from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in their numbers have safely arrived in the holy city of Makkah, Saudi Arabia, getting ready to perform the 2025 Hajj rites.

After completing their Umrah, the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board will take charge by checking the faithful into a well arranged accommodation.
T he FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, has been commended for ensuring smooth logistics, feeding, and general welfare.
However, a critical hitch has emerged as many pilgrims are yet to receive their Nusuk Cards, the official digital ID required to access the Grand Mosque (Haram) and other key religious sites in Makkah and Madinah.

With Hajj activities set to begin on June 4, but the absence of these physical cards is creating logistical bottlenecks.

Some pilgrims are using downloaded soft copies of the Nusuk Card via the official Saudi app, many face delays and repeated checks at entry points, dampening the otherwise uplifting experience.

Speaking on the issue, Malam Kadiri Edah, Director of the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, clarified that the issuance of the cards falls under the jurisdiction of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). He assured that efforts are ongoing to resolve the delay.

We understand the inconvenience, but we appeal for calm and continued patience. We are working closely with NAHCON and Saudi authorities to ensure the cards are delivered to all our pilgrims as soon as possible,” Edah said.

Despite the documentation setback, the pilgrims’ morale remains high. Many continue to engage in daily prayers and supplications at the Haram, expressing gratitude for the chance to witness Hajj. The atmosphere is charged with anticipation as the sacred rites draw near.

Hajj 2025 will run from June 4 to 9 (8th to 13th Dhul Hijjah 1446 AH), starting in Mina, reaching its climax with the Day of Arafah on June 5, and culminating in the Eid al-Adha celebrations on June 6, followed by the Days of Tashreeq from June 7 to 9.

Saudi authorities continue to urge all pilgrims to utilize the Nusuk platform to enhance their spiritual experience, pledging smoother operations as the Hajj season continues.
