Foundations, Turkey Donate Cows to Needy in Sokoto

By Muhammad Ibrahim, Sokoto

Cows worth about ₦1.75 billion were donated by Darul Erkam Foundation, Sulaimaniyah, Diversity, and the Government of Turkey for distribution to the needy in Sokoto State.

Speaking to newsmen about the activity, Chairman of the Sokoto State Zakat and Endowment Commission and Islamic Education Trust, Muhammad Lawal Maidoki, appreciated the efforts of their team, volunteers, and partners who worked tirelessly to make the event a success.

However, Lawal Maidoki said that despite their initial plan to slaughter 4,500 animals, they received just over 3,000, resulting in a shortfall of over 1,000.

He said this, coupled with the high demand for Qurbani meat and security challenges, made it difficult to meet the expectations of all beneficiaries.

Taking full responsibility for any shortcomings, he apologized to those who were unable to receive the cow meat due to these challenges, adding that they understood the importance of this act of charity and the trust placed in them.

Maidoki affirmed that this experience has taught them valuable lessons, and they will work to address the challenges faced.

He also expressed appreciation for the unflinching support of the state government in providing logistics and other essential resources required for the cow-sharing exercise, adding that many people in the state had greatly benefited.
