Kaduna Govt Debunks Alleged 24-Hour Curfew in Kakuri

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

The Kaduna State Government has debunked rumours circulating on social media since June 30, 2025, regarding the alleged imposition of a 24-hour curfew in Kakuri, located in Kaduna South Local Government Area, describing the reports as false and misleading.

In a statement titled “Re: False Curfew Alert in Kakuri, Kaduna South”, signed by James Kanyip and released to journalists on Tuesday by the spokesman to the state governor, Ibraheem Musa, the government emphasized that no such curfew has been declared.

“The Kaduna State Government wishes to debunk the false message circulating on social media platforms about the imposition of a 24-hour curfew in Kakuri and its surroundings,” the statement read.

The government clarified that all the areas mentioned in the rumour — including Kakuri Bus Stop, Kurmi Gwari, Monday Market, Afaka Road, Air Force Junction, and Kakuri GRA — remain calm and peaceful, with residents going about their normal activities.

The statement urged the public to disregard the rumour, describing it as the handiwork of mischief-makers seeking to spread unnecessary panic.

“The Kaduna State Government remains committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property. Security agencies are fully deployed to guarantee the protection of all residents and to foster peaceful coexistence,” it added.

The public was also advised to collaborate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities in their communities and to avoid spreading or acting on unverified information, which could lead to unnecessary tension.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports suggest there were minor altercations between security operatives and some youths in the vicinity of the popular Monday Market area prior to the spread of the false curfew message. Authorities are yet to officially comment on the alleged fracas.
