Dino Melaye Makes First Court Appearance as Lawyer

Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has officially debuted as a legal practitioner, marking his first courtroom appearance on Friday, July 18, 2025, after being called to the Nigerian Bar earlier this month.

Melaye appeared before Justice Emeka Nwite at Court 8 of the Federal High Court in Abuja, fully robed in a lawyer’s wig and gown, signalling the start of his journey in legal practice.

“Senator Dino Melaye at the Federal High Court Abuja today. Appeared before Justice Emeka Nwite of Court 8,” he wrote in a post shared on his verified Facebook page.

Melaye was among the more than 5,000 law graduates called to the Bar in Abuja in early July, after completing his legal studies at Baze University.

The former senator, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), previously represented the Kogi West Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly and also served in the House of Representatives.

His courtroom appearance marks a new chapter in a career that has spanned politics, activism, and media, with his transition into law adding another dimension to his public life.
