Nurses Suspend Nationwide Strike – Health Minister Confirms

The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives has suspended its nationwide warning strike, Minister of Health, Ali Pate, announced on Monday.

Speaking to journalists after a closed-door meeting in Abuja, Pate said the suspension followed key agreements reached between the federal government and the union’s leadership.

While union officials have yet to address the press following the meeting, the minister assured that the decision signals progress in addressing the nurses’ concerns.

The association had launched a nationwide warning strike on July 29 to demand improved welfare packages, fair allowances, and better working conditions in federal health institutions.

The industrial action, which disrupted services in public health facilities across the country, was initially slated to run until August 5.
