Ministry of Interior Honours Retirees for Outstanding Service

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, has applauded retiring officers of the Ministry for their decades of meritorious service to the nation.

Speaking at a retirement ceremony held in Abuja, Dr. Ajani described the retirees as senior citizens and distinguished colleagues who devoted their careers to upholding the integrity and stability of Nigeria’s public service. She also conveyed the warm regards and best wishes of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who is currently on short leave.

In a statement signed by Akinbode Fatima on behalf of the Head of Press and Public Relations, Dr. Ajani praised the retirees for their sacrifices, professionalism, and mentorship, noting that their contributions left lasting impacts on reforms and milestones achieved by the Ministry. She presented tokens of appreciation on behalf of the Ministry and encouraged them to embrace rest, family time, and continued service as ambassadors of the civil service.

Dr. Ajani also urged serving staff to maximize the services of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) by enrolling their spouses and children under 18, emphasizing access to quality healthcare.

Earlier, the Director of Human Resources Management, Mrs. Catherine Zosi, congratulated the retirees, while the Director of Citizenship and Business, Mrs. Okuboere Mukah, advised their children to care for them in retirement.

The Acting Chairman of the Joint Union in the Ministry, Comrade Mohammed Elabor, commended management for honouring the retirees and called for more attention to staff welfare to enhance productivity.

The event featured the cutting of a retirement cake, presentation of gifts, and recognition of the retirees’ service. A directorate officer received a 65-inch television, while others from Grade Level 14 downward were presented with deep freezers.
