Gov Sule Hands Over Headquarters Complex to North Central Development Commission in Lafia

By Israel Adamu, Jos

Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has officially handed over an office complex donated by the state government to the newly established North Central Development Commission (NCDC) in Lafia.

Speaking at the ceremony held at the Government House, Lafia, Governor Sule said Nasarawa, as the host state for the Commission’s headquarters, considered it a duty to provide all necessary support to ensure the agency takes off smoothly.

He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to balanced national development, stressing that the President’s vision aligns with the aspirations of the North Central states and the National Assembly for rapid transformation of the region.

While pledging continued support, Governor Sule urged the Commission to work with all states in the zone and ensure fairness in project allocation.

Chairman of the Commission, Barr. Cosmas Ternenge Akighir, expressed gratitude to Governor Sule for his leadership and generosity, noting that the donation of the headquarters complex would strengthen the Commission’s operations.

Also speaking, the Managing Director/CEO of the NCDC, Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, praised the Governor for providing both the Lafia headquarters and a temporary liaison office in Abuja. He described the gesture as a foundation for strong collaboration between the Commission and Nasarawa State.

Tsenyil added that the Commission had begun consultations to avoid duplication of projects, pledging to promote synergy among states and local governments in the region.

Chairman of the North Central Caucus at the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Idris Wase, represented by Hon. John Dafaan, assured the Commission of continued legislative support to help it achieve its mandate.

Following the handover, the Board and Management of the NCDC paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Lafia, HRH Justice Sidi Bage (rtd), who described the establishment of the Commission as a “good omen” for the North Central zone. He thanked President Tinubu for fulfilling his promise of championing the region’s development.
