NYSC Members in Delta Urged to Drive Sustainable Development, Innovative Solutions

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has charged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the state to make lasting contributions to sustainable development by providing innovative solutions to the needs of their host communities.The governor gave the charge on Friday at the official opening and swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course, held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area.

Represented by the Commissioner for Special Projects, Barr. Funvei Manager, Oborevwori urged the corps members to serve with commitment, dedication, and integrity, regardless of their places of primary assignment. Declaring the orientation course open, the governor assured the corps members of Delta’s safety and hospitality, while encouraging them to cultivate positive mindsets and embrace values that promote national growth. “You can only achieve this if you fully embrace the enduring lessons and values that will be imparted to you during the orientation exercise,” he said. “The NYSC remains pivotal to our quest for national integration and sustainable development, as demonstrated by the invaluable contributions of corps members across the country.”

In his welcome address, the NYSC Delta State Coordinator, Mr. John Kwaghe, disclosed that 1,532 prospective corps members had been registered as of Thursday, September 25, 2025. The number comprises 678 males and 854 females.Kwaghe expressed appreciation to Governor Oborevwori for his continuous support of the NYSC scheme, particularly the approval for reconstruction of the fallen perimeter fence at the orientation camp.
