Kogi Govt to Enforce Ban on Trailer Parks Over Security Concerns

By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

The Kogi State Government has announced plans to strictly enforce the ban on trailer parks across the state beginning October 29, 2025, as part of measures to curb criminal activities.

Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, disclosed this in Lokoja, stating that intelligence reports revealed that some trailer parks, particularly those in Zariagi and Osara, had become hideouts for criminal elements.“ The directive of His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, is clear. From October 29, 2025, the state will begin full enforcement of the ban on trailer parks,” Fanwo said. “Intelligence at our disposal shows that some of these parks harbor criminals who threaten the peace and security of our people. This is a proactive and preventive measure.”

He explained that security agencies have been directed to enforce the order without compromise, warning that violators would face the full weight of the law. Fanwo further noted that the enforcement is supported by legislation, as Governor Ododo has signed into law a bill restricting the movement of articulated trucks during daytime hours.

He urged trailer park operators to comply ahead of the deadline and called on residents to support the government’s efforts, stressing that safeguarding lives and securing communities remain the administration’s top priority.
