Kogi Government, FG Empower 8,600 Households with Cash Transfer Programme

The Kogi State Government, in partnership with the Federal Government of Nigeria, has launched a cash transfer programme aimed at supporting 8,600 vulnerable households across the state. The initiative was officially flagged off on Friday at Government House, Lokoja.Speaking at the ceremony, the State Coordinator of the Kogi State Social Investment Programme Agency (KOSSIPA), Hajia Aishat Oyiza Omade, said the intervention was designed to alleviate poverty and improve living standards for disadvantaged families.

She urged beneficiaries to safeguard their ATM cards, each loaded with ₦75,000, warning them not to hand the cards to anyone.

“This card carries ₦75,000. Don’t give your card to anybody, including me,” she cautioned.Hajia Omade also commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his commitment to both infrastructure and human capital development, describing him as the “Chief Servant of the State.”

The Manager of the Kogi State Cash Transfer Unit, Mr. Olorunmosunle Moses Kehinde, pledged the team’s dedication to ensuring the programme delivers long-term benefits.

“We are committed to building a future where poverty is a distant memory and prosperity is a shared reality in Kogi State,” he said.

He further acknowledged the contributions of Tagpay and Mintyn Microfinance Bank for their collaboration in the implementation process.The initiative, jointly driven by the state and federal governments, is expected to expand access to basic amenities, education, and economic opportunities for households in need. Beneficiaries at the event expressed gratitude and pledged to use the funds judiciously. Stakeholders described the programme as a significant step toward achieving the broader vision of a poverty-free Kogi State.
