APC National Chairman Nentawe Launches 14-Day Free Medical Outreach in Plateau

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, on Monday flagged off a 14-day free medical outreach in Plateau State.

The programme, conducted by the United States–based *Sharing Hope Mission Medical Team*, is being supported by Prof. Nentawe alongside Nigerian medical professionals. The outreach aims to provide humanitarian healthcare services to residents across several communities in the state.

According to reports, the team comprises more than 30 doctors and specialists from various fields of medicine who will offer free consultations, surgeries, and capacity-building sessions for local health workers.

Prof. Nentawe expressed delight in welcoming the international medical team, describing the initiative as part of his commitment to improving public health and ensuring access to quality medical care for the less privileged.

> “We must thank the Sharing Hope International Medical Mission for agreeing to support this initiative. Already, we’ve attended to over 400 people. We now have experts and equipment from France, the U.S., and Canada to ensure Nigerians get the best possible medical care,” he said.

He added that the outreach aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s *Renewed Hope Agenda*, which prioritizes the health and social well-being of Nigerians.

> “I am optimistic that within these two weeks, the team will not only treat patients but also train Nigerian medical personnel to perform complex surgeries and strengthen the capacity of our local hospitals,” he added.

The team leader of *Sharing Hope Mission Medical Team*, Dr. Emeka Anyanwu, said the outreach will focus on five key specialties — gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, general surgery, and primary healthcare.

He noted that the programme would also support nurses, private clinics, and hospitals to improve their long-term service delivery.

> “It’s not just about coming to perform surgeries and leaving; we’re here to ensure knowledge transfer and skill development among Nigerian medical staff,” Dr. Anyanwu said.

A resident of Plateau State, Mr. Michael Nanle, commended the APC National Chairman for the initiative, describing it as a timely and compassionate intervention for the less privileged.

Prof. Nentawe disclosed that about 35 medical personnel are already on the ground, alongside staff of the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), with more experts expected to arrive in the coming days.
