DAMOGA@30: Dambatta Old Girls Pledge Stronger Bond, Support for Alma Mater

Class of ’95 promises continued contribution to GGASS Dambatta’s growth and welfare of teachers and students

The Dambatta Old Girls Association (DAMOGA), Class of 1995, has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting their alma mater—Government Girls Arabic Secondary School (GGASS), Dambatta—as part of activities marking their 30th anniversary celebration held in Kano last Saturday.

Speaking at the colorful event, the Class of 1995 President, Hajiya Ruqayya Muhammad Yakubu, said the gathering was organized to reunite members, honor their teachers, and offer prayers for deceased and ailing classmates and staff.

“We are here to celebrate life, remember our late colleagues and teachers, and appreciate those still alive but facing health challenges. They all played a great role in shaping who we are today,” she stated.

Hajiya Ruqayya added that the association remains committed to uplifting the school through continued collaboration and developmental support.

“Our journey doesn’t end here. We will keep contributing to the growth of GGASS Dambatta and strengthen our bond as one family. We also encourage other chapters to join in building a lasting legacy for the school that made us who we are,” she said.

Founded in 1982, DAMOGA has evolved into a strong network of alumni dedicated to promoting unity, mentorship, and community development.

The event was graced by several former and current teachers, principals, and education stakeholders, who lauded the initiative of the old girls. Certificates of honor were presented to teachers and principals who had contributed to the school’s academic and moral excellence.

Former principal Hajiya Lauratu Ado Diso, who played a key role in the early formation of the association, commended the Class of 1995 for their unity and organizational spirit.

“This event is one of the most well-organized reunions I’ve attended. I’m proud to have been part of the school’s journey and will continue to support DAMOGA in every possible way,” she said.

As part of their anniversary project, the group donated a first aid kit to GGASS Dambatta to enhance healthcare services within the school.

The celebration drew attendance from former students, relatives, teachers, invited guests, and education stakeholders, all of whom praised the association for sustaining the culture of giving back to their alma mater.
