Kogi Security Adviser Warns Senator Karimi Against Inflammatory Comments in Okun Land

By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

The Kogi State Security Adviser, retired Commander Jerry Omodara, has cautioned the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Karimi, to refrain from making public statements that could incite division or violence in Okun land.

Omodara issued the warning while addressing journalists in Lokoja on the sidelines of a one-day workshop for women themed “Building Trust for a Renewed Hope”, organized by his office in collaboration with the Kogi Women Empowerment Coalition (KWEC).

The security adviser expressed concern that some of Senator Karimi’s recent comments were capable of provoking unrest and undermining the unity of Kogi West. He described the lawmaker’s stance on certain political matters as self-serving and not reflective of the collective interest of his constituents.

Omodara emphasized that no town hall meeting or formal consultation was held mandating the senator to speak on power rotation or political alignment on behalf of the people of Kogi West.

“At no time did the Senator call a meeting where he was mandated to speak for the district on power shift. His utterances are divisive and unhelpful,” Omodara stated.

He urged Senator Karimi to focus on his legislative responsibilities at the National Assembly rather than making remarks capable of destabilizing the peace currently enjoyed in the state.

“The people of Kogi West are enlightened and know what is best for them. The Senator should avoid comments that could divide his constituents and threaten the existing harmony,” the security adviser added.

Commander Omodara reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability across all parts of Kogi State, stressing that no individual or political interest should be allowed to jeopardize the progress being recorded under the current administration.

The workshop, which brought together women leaders, civil society representatives, and community stakeholders, focused on strengthening peacebuilding, trust, and inclusivity among residents of Kogi State.
