FCT Teachers Urged to Step Down Entrepreneurship Trainings for Sustainable Development

Teachers in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, have been urged to retain and to step down the knowledge they have acquired after a 5-day entrepreneurship training to students to foster self -reliance and sustainable development.

Director FCT Education Resource Centre (ERC), Dr Nameet Daud Abdulrahim made this call at the end of a 5- day intensive training programme on entrepreneurship in Abuja schools for students.

Dr. Abdulrahim
commended the participants for their high level of commitment throughout the training, also encouraged them not to relent in passing the knowledge that they had acquired to others in the classrooms.

She stated that teachers have been empowered with entrepreneurship mindsets; hence, the need to share their experiences with other teachers to be passed on to students to thrive in a digital world.

She emphasized that the success of the programme lies in consistent implementation, innovation, and continuous step-down training across their respective schools.

According to her, the various sessions have exposed teachers to the practical skills of entrepreneurship training that will prepare students to be self-reliant to contribute to their environment, and for survival in a digital world.

Speaking, the CEO of CEBAR, Ms. Carol Barlow noted the need for strengthened collaboration and effective communication between teachers, schools, government institutions, and private-sector partners.

Barlow noted that robust partnerships are essential for driving entrepreneurship education and sustaining the impact of the training while urging them to serve as change agents in their various schools, driving entrepreneurial mindsets that will contribute to a more productive and prosperous future for Nigeria.

Participants expressed collectively appreciated the organizers for giving them the opportunity to learn beyond the classrooms through entrepreneurship applications.

Furthermore, promising to step it down training for others to learn.

Head of Division, Teachers Development of the Centre Dr. Keni Fredrick, stated that the teachers who have been equipped with practical skills, innovative pedagogy, and modern approaches in line with the new NERDC curriculum, remain central to transforming Education for national development by linking classroom instruction with the broader entrepreneurship ecosystem.

He encouraged them to continue to inspire their students to think critically, innovate, create and pursue economic independence.
