By Francis Wilfred

The Federal Government has reiterated its strong commitment to eradicating insecurity in Nigeria, calling for deeper collaboration with regional and international allies to combat terrorism and related threats. Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume, made the appeal when the leadership of the Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.

In a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, Akume said the Tinubu-led administration is intensifying efforts to safeguard the lives and property of Nigerians. He stressed the need for support from global partners in addressing the rising security challenges.“The government is seriously committed to eradicating insecurity,” Akume said. “We need support from our allies to be able to fight terrorists in the land.”The SGF appreciated the vote of confidence passed on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration by the CBCN, describing it as an acknowledgment of the government’s ongoing initiatives to strengthen national security and tackle key socio-economic challenges.Akume noted that the administration continues to work closely with traditional rulers, business leaders, the private sector, political stakeholders and religious bodies to build a more stable and prosperous Nigeria. He urged religious institutions across the country to intensify prayers for peace, unity and national development.

Earlier, the President of the Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, Archbishop Prof. Leonard Bature Kawas, reaffirmed the group’s support for the Federal Government’s security efforts. He commended President Tinubu’s commitment to restoring peace and stability and assured the SGF of the group’s continued prayers for the nation.“We are committed to praying for peace and unity to prevail in the country,” Kawas said, reiterating the CBCN’s readiness to collaborate with the government in its efforts to overcome insecurity. The meeting highlighted the Federal Government’s ongoing appeal for broader cooperation from both local and foreign partners as it intensifies the fight against terrorism, banditry and other security threats affecting various parts of the country.
