The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee is set to commence a probe into alleged discrepancies in the gazetted Tax Reform Acts.
The committee, chaired by Muktar Aliyu Betara, met for the first time on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, to deliberate on a Privilege Matter raised by a member of the House of Representatives at plenary over inconsistencies between the laws passed by the National Assembly on Tax Reforms and the gazetted versions.
After the investigation, the Ad Hoc Committee Chairman reiterated commitment to transparency thoroughness and assured that findings and recommendations would be presented within the shortest possible time to the House to affirm legislative integrity, due process, and public confidence in the lawmaking process, Betara said.
The Ad Hoc Committee was constituted to ensure clarity, accuracy, and full conformity between legislation duly passed by the National Assembly and the gazetted tax reforms in line with constitutional provisions and established legislative standards.
