The Presidency has dismissed as false reports claiming that President Bola Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, with the Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
The clarification followed the circulation of unverified social media posts alleging a change in the Chief of Staff position, with some accounts citing unnamed “insider” sources.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described the claims as baseless and urged Nigerians to ignore them.
“There is absolutely no truth to the story. The Chief of Staff remains in his position, and the Principal Private Secretary likewise remains in his role. Hakeem Muri-Okunola has not replaced Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff,” the statement said.
The Presidency said the report was a deliberate fabrication by purveyors of fake news seeking to create discord within the government.
Onanuga also cautioned media organisations and social media users to always verify information before publishing or sharing it, stressing that responsible reporting is essential to preventing misinformation.
