Bayelsa Governor Welcomes 1,236 NYSC Corps Members, Urges Discipline and Responsible Conduct

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has received 1,236 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) 2026 Batch A, Stream 1 deployed to the state, urging them to uphold discipline, responsibility, and positive values throughout their service year.

The governor delivered the message through the Commissioner for Youth Development, Alfred Kemepado Nimizigha, during activities at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Boro Town. According to officials, the batch comprises 681 females and 555 males.Nimizigha advised the corps members to avoid lifestyles and behaviours that could negatively affect their future, stressing that the orientation camp is designed to instil discipline, character development, and a sense of national responsibility.

He encouraged them to channel their energy productively and take advantage of learning and skills acquisition opportunities, particularly in the technology-driven economy.The commissioner also assured the corps members of the Bayelsa State Government’s commitment to their welfare and security and wished them a successful and impactful service year.

Earlier, the Bayelsa State NYSC Coordinator, Samuel Amaramiro Pepple, urged participants to engage fully in all camp activities and remain law-abiding. He highlighted the five core components of the NYSC scheme, including orientation, primary assignment, community development service, Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED), and the passing-out parade.The event concluded with the administration of the NYSC oath of allegiance by a representative of the State Chief Judge, Justice I. Eradiri.
