DSCHC Enrols 350 Additional Residents Into Delta Health Insurance Scheme

The Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC) has enrolled an additional 350 residents into the state’s Contributory Health Scheme under the Indigent Enrollee Adoption Initiative (IEAI), as part of efforts to expand access to affordable healthcare for vulnerable groups. The enrolment exercises were conducted at Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministry, Effurun, in Uvwie Local Government Area, where 250 beneficiaries were registered, and at Umiaghwa Village in Okpe Local Government Area, where 100 pupils of Umiaghwa Primary School were enrolled.

Speaking at the events, the Director-General of DSCHC, Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, represented by the Director of ICT, Planning, Research and Statistics, Emmanuel Akpofure, said the initiative aligns with the Delta State Government’s drive toward Universal Health Coverage. He noted that the programme reflects growing support from individuals and organisations committed to improving healthcare access.

According to the commission, the enrolment at Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministry was sponsored by Ebegha Winston Taralayefa, while the registration of pupils in Umiaghwa was sponsored by the Edward Ederaine Foundation. Akpoveta said the scheme supports the state government’s M.O.R.E Agenda by ensuring residents can access quality healthcare without financial hardship.

Representatives of the sponsors said the initiative was driven by a commitment to social responsibility and the need to address challenges faced by residents in accessing healthcare, particularly in underserved communities.
