Anthony Joshua Speaks After Fatal Crash That Killed Two Friends

British-Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua has spoken publicly for the first time since a fatal road accident in December 2025 that claimed the lives of two of his close friends.

In a video shared on his official Instagram page on Thursday, the former heavyweight champion confirmed the deaths of Latif Ayodele, popularly known as Latz, and Gami Sina, describing them as his “brothers.”

The accident occurred on December 29, 2025, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. Joshua was also injured and received medical treatment following the crash.

In the video, Joshua said the loss had deeply affected him and the families of the deceased, noting that the group had planned to end the year together before the tragedy.

He said he is committed to supporting the families of Ayodele and Sina and helping to achieve goals they had set for their loved ones.

Joshua also thanked first responders, medical personnel, and individuals who assisted him after the accident. He specifically acknowledged staff at Lagoon Hospital, Ikoyi, as well as Nigerian and British officials and business leaders who provided support during his recovery and return to the UK.

The driver involved in the crash, Adeniyi Kayode, has appeared before a magistrate’s court in Sagamu, Ogun State. The case was adjourned to February 25 to allow the Department of Public Prosecutions to review the case file.

No official findings on the cause of the accident have been released.
