FCE Okene Student Found Dead Along Okene–Lokoja Highway in Kogi

A 20-year-old student of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Okene, has been found dead in Eika-Adagu community along the Okene–Lokoja highway in Kogi State, police sources confirmed.

The deceased, identified as Suleiman Rahama Onono, was discovered in the Camp 2 area of the highway. She was reported missing by her family last Saturday after failing to return home, prompting a search by relatives, friends, and members of the college community.

Residents who discovered the body alerted security operatives. The police recovered the remains and moved them to the Okengwe General Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

While some eyewitnesses described visible injuries on the body, authorities have not confirmed the cause of death or any motive. Police have urged the public to avoid speculation as investigations are ongoing.

The incident has heightened concern among residents, who say the area has recorded recent cases of violent crime, including attacks on commercial motorcycle riders. Community members are calling on the state government and security agencies to strengthen patrols and improve public lighting along the highway to enhance safety.

The Kogi State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the case but is expected to provide updates as investigations progress.
